Notice of Fee Adjustment at Hamilton Health Hub

Since transitioning to a mixed billing model on 1 March 2023, Hamilton Health Hub has maintained the same pricing structure. However, due to rising operational costs—including staffing, medical consumables, rent, and taxes—we find it necessary to implement a modest increase in our billing fees. We are committed to delivering high-quality care and trust that our community will continue to support us as they have since our inception.

Hamilton Health Hub is a privately owned and operated practice. Like many small businesses, we face significant overheads such as staff wages and medical equipment. Over the past 12 months, general business expenses have increased by up to 10%, with medical equipment costs often rising at more than twice the rate of inflation. Despite these growing pressures, government Medicare rebates have not increased in line with the true cost of healthcare.

In fact, Medicare rebates have remained virtually unchanged over the last decade. If they had kept pace with real-world costs, current funding for General Practice would be more than double. Unfortunately, this shortfall places strain on practices striving to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare.

Billing Considerations

At the discretion of our doctors, the following groups may be eligible for bulk billing on standard consultations only: – Health Care Card holders – Pensioner Concession Card holders – Children under 12 years of age – Seniors over 75 years of age.

Please note that short, long, or prolonged consultations will not be bulk billed under any circumstances.

Where procedures are involved, there are additional costs, which your doctor will discuss with you at the time of consultation.  A follow-up appointment will most likely be bulk-billed if the appointment is exclusively for a review of the previous appointment like discussing your investigation results etc.

Bulk billing is not guaranteed and is available only at the doctor’s discretion. We are able to offer Medicare online for automatic claiming.

​

Please be aware that we do not bulk bill any seniors, children or concession card holders on Sundays and on public holidays.  

​

Patients wishing to have visits charged to a third party must provide evidence of claim acceptance or a contact person who can verify the claim.  i.e. TAC or Work Cover claim number, a letter from your employer, or contact details.

​

Patients who are referred to other providers such as x-ray or pathology are advised that additional fees may apply. Enquiries should be made with the relevant provider to establish what is covered under Medicare or private health insurance.

Due to recent changes to legislation with regards to bulk billing telephone appointments and due to administrative complicatedness, telephone consults cannot be bulkbilled.  Therefore please pay the relevant fees before the consult.

Please note: To be eligible for Medicare rebates for Telehealth appointments the following criteria will apply

​

  • have been seen by a GP face to face at Hamilton Health Hub in the last 12 months

  • OR the patient is under 12 months

  • OR the patient is experiencing homelessness

  • OR the patient is actively quarantining with COVID 19

  • Unless they are the only options, are not on weekends and public holidays.
